Easy & Effective Self-Care Strategies For Entering Into a New Season!
Wellness with Filly Flair
When entering into a new season, whether that be a life change or a change in the weather, it is essential to pause and make time for self-care. What is self-care, and why is it important? When we say ‘self-care,’ what we mean is taking time to intentionally care for your body, mind, and spirit- or your full self. Life is about balance, and an excellent way to maintain that balance is to be more self-aware or in tune with your mental and physical health. The psychological and physical go hand-in-hand. There are many ways to participate in self-care, and today we are going to be touching on a couple of easy and effective strategies that everyone can do from home! Grab some tea, and let’s get started.
Let’s start with a mantra. A mantra is a short phrase or utterance one repeat’s aloud consisting of positive and self-affirming connotations. This can be a chant, prayer, or motto. Neuroscientists have agreed that mantras positively influence our lives and are most effective when we are in a place of zen or clarity. How we talk to ourselves matters. For today’s blog, let’s say our mantra is Life is good. I am good. Throughout the day, simply whisper this mantra to keep your mind in an uplifting place. It can only make your day a little nicer!
Yoga and meditation are a fabulous method for achieving both physical and mental wellness. Like we said, they go hand-in-hand. When you are stressed or anxious, your muscles tense. Your body is in distress when you are as well. If you haven’t tried yoga, it’s never too late to start! Starting is the hard part, so get over your fear of looking silly because we all look ridiculous and awkward most of the time. Have a good laugh! Laughter is the best medicine, after all.
After you’ve had your meditation and a giggle or two, it’s time for a well-deserved beverage. There are so many excellent and delicious beverages with healing benefits. Tea, matcha, kombucha, and yes, even coffee! Preparing a drink can be a very relaxing and rewarding form of self-care.
In today’s a “new “normal,” it is easy to forget to go outside. With all the working and schooling from home, it is immensely important to get that vitamin D. If the weather isn’t nice, opening the blinds and letting in the natural light is still highly effective.
Self-care doesn’t have to be a solo activity! Grab a friend and just have a chat about life. Surround yourself with positive influences and people who care about you, such as a family member. Human connection is significant even for the most introverted.
Last but certainly not least, we have plants! Taking care of plants is hugely beneficial to our mental health and overall quality of life. Plants help clean our air, and many provide wonderful and natural aromatherapy. You know what they say… stop and smell the roses.
We hope you are inspired by this handful of tips for self-care and wellness! Take care, and stay well. See you soon for another blog.
