Self Love and Why It's Important

Good morning, Filly Flair Ladies! Today is another beautiful day in this gorgeous city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and with all of this beautiful crisp weather we have been having, I just feel compelled to show my love for this great place we call home. I woke up this morning with a spring in my step and an infectious happiness wafting through the air. I bounded down my hardwood floor staircase, nearly slipping in my socked feet, and made a cup of earl grey tea to get this day really started off on the right (socked) foot.

Over the past couple of years, I have really gone out of my way to practice self-love throughout all aspects of my life. Meaning... cut out the bad energy and move forward with the good energy! Focus on positivity and love and light and optimism, and watch how your life completely evolves. I know one thing is for sure, once I cut out all of my toxic traits and the toxic people in my life, everything else really just fell into place. Want to know where I started? Keep reading!

1. Make a List

So what does that mean? Make a list?? Take a moment to sit down in pure silence and solitude and make a list of everything in your life that you feel is weighing you down or holding you back in some way. Really focus on this and take your time for this portion. Now... look at your list. Do the items on your list seem to be real tangible things causing stress in your life, or are they consequences of other bad things happening?

2. Analyze Your List

Now that you've found the actions/responsibilities/etc in your life that cause you stress, find a way to overcome these. Is there someone toxic in your life you need to cut ties with? Does your job/career suck the life out of you and leave you feeling underappreciated and out of energy? Are there toxic personality traits you need to improve upon? All of these things are important to deeply consider so that you can evolve into the person you want to become!

3. Put Your Plan to Action

Now that you know exactly where you need to be focusing your energy, the only thing you can do is start. If you feel overwhelmed by making too many changes at one time then start on one section of the list at a time. Hate your job? Update your resume and start applying to other places. Have a toxic significant other? Make plans to be less dependent on them and eventually be able to cut the ties! Start small with baby-steps until you can feel yourself breathe again.

So Filly Flair Ladies, what do you think of this Self-Love exercise? Think it may work for you? Let us know in the comments, and as always have a great week! XOXO
