Staying Active Through COVID-19

Good morning, Filly Flair Fashionistas! How are we surviving the nationwide quarantine? For some areas of the United States, the quarantine is a mere suggestion by using terms such as "social distancing" but for other areas, they've completely shut down restaurants, bars, and large social gatherings. Many people are being instructed to work from home so that they don't have to go out in public. I don't know how many of you beautiful ladies have been working from home, but I'm on day three of not leaving my house and I'm going nuts.

Because the United States people were able to predict this oncoming quarantine, everything in our grocery stores (especially toilet paper) has sold out completely. Luckily, I made it to the store so I'm pretty stocked up for the next two weeks on groceries AND toilet paper! One thing that I've noticed in these three days staying home is how sore my body has become from the lack of activity in my life so today’s blog post is all about staying active in your home throughout the quarantine.

The upside to all of this is that we recently got in some fabulous new athletic gear at Filly Flair. These bright and warm-toned leggings are thick, high-waisted, and squat proof. I paired these super cute leggings with a basic work out tank and sports bra and began my stretches.

After 3 days of virtually no real activity, I decided I absolutely had to do something about it so I stood up and started with a stretch routine. What I noticed the most from sitting all day was how badly my back hurt. That’s the first muscle group I worked out. I did any backstretch I could think of just to warm my muscles up. I then moved to stretching my neck, shoulders, arms, legs, feet, literally everything. Once I felt like my body had some blood flowing through it again, I did some light exercises like jumping jacks, crunches, squats, and lunges.

I started this little routine this morning and already I feel like a new person, which is great!. My body is still sore from the lack of movement over these last three days, but I know that by continuing and adding to this routine over the next couple of weeks, my body will recover from this quarantine and be stronger and happier for it. I'm looking forward to feeling that!

Well, Filly Flair Fashionistas, that brings this week’s blog post to an end. We are going to survive this global pandemic and be stronger for it. Looking forward to seeing y’all on the other side (out in public!) I know that by the end of this staycation, I'll be begging for sunshine, grass, and warm weather. Let me know what you think about today's blog in the comments. We always love to hear from you all.

Have a great, safe, and people-free week. We'll catch you next week on the blog. XOXO Talk soon, my friends!
